12-11-24 Afternoon Rush - Piers Morgan Grills People For Celebrating CEO Death & Is Laura Owens Attorney Beginning 'Client Breakup'?
Welcome to the rush hour, your daily dose of pop culture for your rush hour ride. Buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host standup comedian, Dave Neal. Good afternoon, everybody. Tuesday, December 10th, 2024. I've got all of your news in one place. And on today's afternoon rush, we have Megan Fox and machine gun Kelly breaking up.
Just weeks after the pregnancy reveal. Also another NFL burglary happened during Monday night football. I'll share why the heck this keeps on going down. And Caitlin Clark named times athlete of the year. Plus more updates on Luigi the assassin. Merch is flying off the shelf on Pinterest and he's being compared to bachelor nation stars.
It's a wild and unjust world we live in. Also, I'm going to have, uh, a, uh, An eyewitness who was at the McDonald's when he was caught, uh, what they had to say. Plus Jamie Foxx discusses his medical emergency in his new Netflix special. I'll play a clip of that. And the hundredth woman to venture into outer space shares what she saw, all those stories, and so much more coming up next on the rush.
Well, let's start off with some smutty news, things that just really don't matter in the world. Megan Kelly and Machine Gun Kelly, excuse me, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. Oh, wouldn't that be crazy? Machine Gun Kelly leaves Megan Fox for Megan Kelly. No, that's not the story. Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly ended things over Thanksgiving weekend while they were together in Vail, Colorado.
Now this might be one of those on again, off again types of things. Who knows? TMZ is told the reason for their split is that Megan found Material on his phone that was upsetting. And it made her want him to leave the trip early. Uh, he dipped out of the trip early. And since then, the former couple hasn't seen each other and they are not together at this time.
Yeah, maybe it was a case of, uh, you know, they were redoing things after, after maybe a previous cheating scandal, who knows, but, uh, fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice. Uh, TMZ is going to report on that story. And Jason Kelsey is under hot water. Not really, but, uh, he was in Dallas. Dallas, uh, again for a Monday night football game and his rivalry with the Cowboys is going strong even in retirement.
He threw a dis at Dallas, uh, during this clip, it was an aerial shot of, uh, Texas and here's what he had to say.
He says, also the butthole and armpit of America as well. So give it, leave it up for Dallas butthole and armpit. Now again, uh, it's, it's good to see friendly ribbing and bringing humor into the color commentary there of the Monday night football games, but all is not well in football. There is a heist. Oh, there's just a continued.
Okay. So here's what's happening. Here's the story report. Joe Burrow's home burglarized during Monday night football. So this is not the first time this happens to Kansas city chiefs players. Um, and it looks like players are getting targeted during their game. I mean, think about it. Everyone they love is with them at the suite.
Right? Hanging out and you're a star, you're worth millions and uh, someone can come in, do a smash and grab and leave with a couple of Rolexes and Ohio home belonging to Joe Burrow was reportedly burglarized on Monday night while he was helping the Bengals beat the Cowboys several states away.
According to WLWT is Karen Johnson. Police were called to Burroughs Cincinnati area pad after receiving calls of a break in. Uh, there was a 9 1 1 audio revealing one woman telling dispatch, someone is trying to break into the house right now. My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow's house. She's staying there.
He's at the football game. She's wondering what she should do. If she should be hiding or if she should go outside. This is crazy. And by the way, I don't know who. Who's it was, was it Joe Burrow's girlfriend or was it, was there a house sitter? So, um, I guess they have a, they have a photo of one of the windows that was broken into.
If we do get the nine one, one, uh, audio, we'll, we'll share it with you. But again, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey have also had break ins during their football games. I guess it's like what in the, in this world we live in, if you're a star, then you're You probably need some sort of security when it's known that you're not going to be there, just wild stuff.
All right. Uh, here it is. Jamie Foxx, his mystery illness has been revealed on his upcoming Netflix special. He, uh, he's, I guess, going to be opening up about that and other things, maybe weighing in on some of this JZP Diddy nonsense. Either way, here's what he had to say in the one minute clip on his. My sister took me into the hospital, and this cool white boy, Dr.
Schuette, cool white boy, they say he had on a Laker jersey, just cool as shit, you know. But, he told my sister some horrible news about her big brother.
He said, He's having a brain bleed.
By the way, first of all, I mean, I'm, I'm very excited to watch this standup special, but I'm always shocked when people can hold a silence for as long as he is now. He's trying to catch his, he's trying not to cry. He's trying not to get emotional as he sits there on stage talking to his audience, but the amount of tension and power that can be built up from not speaking at all.
I mean, uh, it's a good, it's a good sort of. I don't know, tip to share if you're doing public speaking, using silence as a way to draw people in. This led to a stroke.
Me.
Here's the thing, when you dream about what you want to be in life, you don't dream tragedy. You dream everything is good, I got the life, I got the cars, I got all that. You don't dream that something must go wrong. But when something does go wrong, you need a sister. Four foot 11, full of nothing but love.
I'll tell you what, it's an interesting clip to share because it's not funny. There's no laughs there, but hey, that's comedy for you, right? It's not always about how many laughs you can get per minute, but it's about how you can affect your audience. I'm sure there will be stories that he shares that are.
Funnier than that excerpt, but Hey, interesting stuff. Nonetheless, I think he's such an A list celebrity. What people don't know about Jamie Foxx is that's not his real name. And, um, he actually named himself Jamie Foxx because he wanted to, he wanted a name that people didn't know if it was a woman or a man, uh, a sort of gender neutral name, uh, because he was signing up for the open mics at the comedy store in Los Angeles.
And I got to tell you, it's pretty smart because, you know, Uh, you know, they, they like to have an, you know, mix of performers there. And when there's 50 dudes in a row trying to do comedy and they have someone that might be a woman, they might put them up and that's exactly why he went with Jamie, which is an interesting sort of story, uh, years later, because he's such like a five tool star when it comes to comedy, music.
Acting drama, he's really got it all. So good on him for the recovery and for sharing his story. Well, speaking of having it all, Caitlin Clark, uh, has it all in the world of women's basketball. That is she's times athlete of the year. Yeah. 2024 is a good year for her name. Time's athlete of the year. And it's also the year.
She became friends with Taylor Swift. Uh, the WNBA superstar revealed her budding friendship with Tay Tay in a recent interview with time after the outlet proclaimed she was its top sportsman of 2024. Uh, she did not make the Olympic team though, which was ridiculous. Uh, uh, you know, but that was a different story.
Uh, she said she met Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift's mom at, uh, Taylor's. Taylor's show and has yet to take Taylor up on the offer of, uh, I guess, um, inviting her to tag along to a chief's game. Go to a chief's game. What are you doing? Hanging out, playing basketball, become, you know, go sit in the VIP section and get free chicken wings.
Come on. All right. Well, uh, we are just, uh, busting through all these stories. Speaking of police investigations, one has come to come to the close for Jason Kelsey. And I'll have that story for you next. All right. The Jason Kelsey, Travis Kelsey, there's burglaries, there's police reports. I mean, this is the world of being associated with Taylor Swift.
You're always in the news. And here's our update. Jason Kelsey. Remember the police investigation where he spiked someone's cell phone? They were calling him a gay slur and he took the phone and spiked it. Well, it turns out the police have officially moved on from the phone smashing incident at Penn state last month.
It's university police officers tell TMZ sports. They've closed the investigation into the incident. A spokeswoman for the department says the case has been closed as the individual in the video footage circulating on social media has not been identified and no one has come forward to university police with a related complaint about damage to personal property.
Oh, my guess is, is that they know who it is, but the person clearly doesn't want to come forward knowing they might get kicked out of school or something like that. Interesting stuff. All right. Well, Jeremy Renner gives an update from his recovery. Remember his snowplow accident from last year? He says I'm 25 percent titanium.
So F Ironman. Yeah. I mean, he's the real Ironman. That was a wild story. He says it'll be two years in January. And I'm very, very proud to overcome a great adversity in my life. I'm forever grateful for all the love and support I've gotten from people all around the world. Even those I never knew existed that helped propel me to get better.
And it's the only thing that really kind of defines me in my life at this point. You know, that's, what's great about overcoming adversity. We've all had challenges in life. And even if you see a celebrity actor who you think has it all, I mean, he was fighting for his life. He was crushed by a gigantic snowplow, unbelievable story.
And for him to make it out of that, just incredible. All right, here's some news in what's coming up in 2025. As far as movies are concerned, Adam Sandler reveals the happy Gilmore to release time period. It's going to be coming out. In July, here's what he had to say on the Dan Patrick show. Thought it might've been a blockbuster 4th of July weekend, but I'm wondering if you're trying to have it align with.
Master's week where you have happy Gilmore to come out. I, it's not coming out then I, I don't know a hundred percent, but I think around July, July, July 4th, but, uh, but, um, I, I, we're trying to get it done in time for July. Yeah. I, I just. You never know what's going to happen. We're just, just finishing today.
It's the last day. You were phenomenal yesterday, Danny. Seriously. We all talked about you. Just, you, you were just so smooth and everything you said was funny. It's funny as hell. We're going to use it all over the place and, uh, and thank you. And you look handsome as hell in the mustache. You look like a strong, you look like you're hitting the weights hard, buddy.
So anyway, there's Adam Sandler. Flattering the Dan Patrick show, Dan's Patrick. And yeah, I mean, there's going to be so many cameos and happy Gilmore too. Will it live up to the original? That's a tough question. Comedy, you know, is so culturally relevant in its moment, but not all comedies can last generations.
And it's been, oh, it's been a while since the first one. So we'll have to see if that humor translates. And speaking of, um, speaking of movies. Uh, withstanding the test of time. How about Star Wars? Jeremy Allen White. Remember him from the bear? He joins Star Wars film, the Mandalorian in Grogu as Jabba the Hutt's son.
Uh, that's an interesting role playing Jabba the Hutt's son. Um, I'm, you know, I'm not a fan. I don't know. And, you know, are Star Wars movies good since Disney bought them? Remember when there were just three Star Wars? Oh, this is going to be my boomer moment. This is going to, when I was a kid, there was only three Star Wars.
Now you got, I mean, they really merchandise the hell out of it, didn't they? And speaking of merchandise. Speaking of merchandising the hell out of things, this is insane that, uh, we're going to, we're going to get into some news, uh, involving the United Healthcare CEO, a murder suspect. I tell you what, before we get into all of that story, cause I'm going to share the GoFundMes, I'm going to share the Pinterest reports, uh, what he was eating and all of the, all of the things we know in modern day world, I mean, 30 years ago, you wouldn't know that it was, uh, you know, hash browns he was munching on when he was arrested, but we got photos because why not?

All right, let's move it on and buy one for me too. Uh, let's move it on. Luigi Mangione, the murder suspect was seen eating McDonald's hash browns before his arrest and police photos posted online.
A lot of people are wondering why the hell they're posting so many photos. Like, are they allowed to be doing this? They posted photos from his jail cell. And I don't know if they're trying to make it seem like there's so many theories out there. You know, people saying, well, they're making it, you know, they're trying to make, People know that you need to like that, you know, law and order must exist.
Uh, and a lot of people are trashing the McDonald's employees for saying, geez, you guys barely make minimum wage. And here you are ratting out the guy who was like, sort of, um, you know, like a joker, like a, you know, a guy that was, and by joker, I mean the character joker, not an actual joker, but a guy that, you know, was doing vigilante justice.
Look, I'm torn on the matter. I am torn on it because on one hand, you can't just go around shooting people, but on the other, you know, actions do have consequences. Even if those consequences are illegal, they exist because of a for profit healthcare system, uh, raking in billions of dollars in profits. Um, I actually retweeted something that said basically like, This is what you need to do in the world or in our country, at least convince people that rather than paying 8, 000 a year in medical expenses, they could spend 2, 000 a year in taxes, convince people that two is less than eight.
And by the way, Bernie Sanders tried to do this and you know what they did. Bernie Sanders said, look, you will pay less in taxes to get unlimited healthcare. But. No, he said, you'll pay more in taxes, but you'll pay less overall. And in what, you know, what the opposition did, they clipped that and say, Bernie Sanders wants to raise your taxes.
So we just, it's an, it's almost like an educational issue. We need to educate people so that they know the solution is to take money away from the mob run middleman, which is. Health insurance, Luigi Mangione accused killer of United healthcare CEO, Brian Thompson arrested at McDonald's in Pennsylvania on Monday and the photos released.
He's eating a hash brown prior to his arrest. Oh, you know, don't you love the hash brown, how greasy it is. And then it comes in that like wax paper thing that you kind of try to wipe your face with after you ever take a hash brown and slide it into a breakfast sandwich. I'm telling you folks, it's delicious.
Don't sleep on that. So yeah, these photos came out. He had a mask on a can 95 mask or a surgical mask, but he would took it off to eat his food. Look, I mean, I guess, I think he was trying to last the long time on the road. And, um, yeah, I guess you can't, you can't just be going into, into any McDonald's and expect that you're not going to be noticed.
So I've got a clip of what. People were saying, uh, when they found him in the shock that they had, that he was actually there. Here's that clip. Our team spoke this morning with somebody who was at the McDonald's when this all went down. Here's what he had to say. A guy came in the door and I didn't really look at him.
I thought it was, everyone was kidding around. The one guy said, that looks like the shooter from New York. And oh my God, they arrested this guy at McDonald's. So then I came back and I said to the one worker, I said, said, was that here? And she's, they said, yeah. And I said, was I here? They said, yeah, you were sitting over there.
All right. So these are your eyewitnesses out of McDonald's folks. Was I here? What day is it either way? Uh, you know, there are people out there that want to support him. Uh, but GoFundMes are being shut down. All pro Luigi Mangione campaigns on GoFundMe have been shut down. I think his Twitter was also shut down.
Um, so I look, I don't. You know, I don't, to be honest, know why, other than maybe they were shut down because, you know, they don't have his explicit approval, but he is entitled to a defense. And a lot of people are wondering, will a jury in New York City convict him? Uh, even, even if it's obvious that it was him, will they can, I mean, cause in the end they can say, Hey, I don't, I don't believe it.
And then he walks free. Now. I don't think that will happen, but I, to be quite honest, we're in uncharted territory. I don't know what will happen. So man made or excuse me, fan made merchandise is flooding Etsy. Oh, did I say Pinterest earlier Etsy of Luigi Mangione, they have a hashtag free Luigi shirt.
Mama, I'm in love with a criminal. Look, I mean. This is a, you want capitalism? This is it. This is unfettered capitalism here. I am neither endorsing nor defending it. And one person says, Hey, in any other world, this guy could have been the bachelor. I don't know how I'm supposed to grapple with the fact that in another universe, this is next season's bachelor.
Like, Ivy educated, former frat boy, super hot, wealthy family. Tell me he doesn't have the same exact vibe as Joey. Like, you look at these two and you're like, yeah, they seem like they're friends. They also both are east coasters. One, he's from Maryland, Joey was from Philadelphia, that moved to Hawaii. So they do have that in common too.
Seem like they went on a Hawaiian surfing trip together and went backpacking and zip lining. You see either of them and you're like, Yeah, I want to date them. That's who I want my friends to date. Except this is a mirror ball champion and this is not. You know, the, it actually brings into discussion, um, radicalization and.
And then by the way, in no way am I defending terrorists who commit senseless violence, but it does make you wonder how does someone get radicalized and that question about that, was he radicalized or was he just willing to put in sacrifice his own freedom because essentially that's what he's doing by committing this crime.
He's sacrificing his freedom in the pursuit of a bigger cause. Some people are saying this, this violence isn't the way it won't make a difference. And to that. Well, maybe it's not the way, but to say it won't make a difference. I mean, for how long have people tried to fight the system and money still exist?
Like we, here's what we need as a country. At the very least, we need to know who's bought and paid for by big insurance and other lobbying groups. We need to know which politicians receive money from the NRA, which receive it from big health insurance companies, which receive it from different lobbying groups, and every single time that politician is interviewed across the board on any, Media platform.
There should be a ticker that shows who paid for them to be there. Uh, we need to redo these campaign finance laws so that money comes out of these types of, uh, you know, of, uh, out of politics so that we can understand the absurdity over these gatekeepers that exist. All right. That's my thought more content coming your way right after this.
Our final thought in the Luigi the Assassin story is Piers Morgan had on Taylor Lorenz yesterday, former Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz. She said she felt joy at the murder. Here's a piece of that discussion. Why would you be in such a celebratory mood about the execution of another human being?
Aren't you supposed to be on the caring, sharing left where, you know, you believe in the sanctity of life? I do believe in the sanctity of life, and I think that's why I felt, along with so many other Americans, joy, unfortunately. You know, because it feels like Joy? Seriously? Joy of the man's execution?
Maybe not joy, but certainly not, no, certainly not empathy. So, it's interesting because she's getting bashed, uh, you know, across the board for this, but look, I'm I'll tell you, I'll tell you what I feel. I feel like I'm not gonna judge Other people for how they feel. Does that make sense? That's, that's where I stand on it.
Do, do, do I feel joy watching someone get gunned down? Absolutely not. Absolutely. I mean, it's horrifying, but we also like turn a blind eye to all the other horrifying things that exist out there. People not taking their insulin shots, dying. We lost millions of people during the pandemic because they wouldn't even go get checked out or people that might have a lump or need to get a cancer screening, or just the simple reasons why people might.
Like again, I've seen this firsthand as an Uber driver. I mean, you know, I've seen people that needed an ambulance that called me instead because they couldn't afford it. Listen, the system's messed up and we have to at least acknowledge that people are at their wits end. I got a crazy clip I'm going to share with you guys.
Uh, an angry customer crashed into Utah car dealership over a refund. Dispute. Uh, this is the audio of it. It's literally a, I guess a Subaru, a Subaru. Is that what it is? It's literally a Subaru driving straight through a wall. Have a listen to this guy gets out of his car.
Whoa, call the cops. He said, I told you mother effers. Look, I mean, the guy wanted his refund. Again, I'm not saying it's legal or fair or just, but we live in a society right now where people are on the fritz. Here we have, listen, let's take a quick turn for the end of the day. Let's, uh, end on some positivity.
Here is Emily Calandrelli, uh, becoming the hundredth woman Uh, to enter space. Here's what she had to say. Oh my gosh. So I'm an aerospace engineer. I studied this stuff for nearly a decade, and it has been a dream of mine to see that view for the longest time. And I don't, I think for a while I didn't think it was going to happen for me.
And so that moment, there's a little bit of fear. I just launched on a rocket. There's a little bit of pride of like, oh my God, I did it. And then you're just overwhelmed with the view. pure magic. Is it the ove what they call that? Yea affects everybody a littl me, I think it's gonna ta understand how it impacts a ride feels different.
I looking at the Grand Cany Ocean for the first time. It's like the biggest possible thing that your eyes have ever seen. I love it. I just love the energy and the awe that exists there. Uh, if we can really look at the world for what it is meant to be, which is regardless of whichever God you believe or don't believe in, it is a magical, magical place.
If we could just get out of our own way, expose the greed and go back to, uh, you know, the vicarious, uh, feeling of joy and love and spread that, especially during this Christmas. season. We would be all the richer. Here's a clip we'll end with on the justice for Clayton official page, which shares Laura Owens and Laura Owens attorney, David Gingras having a conversation.
I'm guessing on his YouTube channel, you can go to his channel to check out the full conversation. We always promote the source material, but it sounds as though he's kind of over this case. Have a listen. Um, I really don't care about that side of the story. I'm not trying to be indifferent. It's just, I'm, I'm not charging you for this stuff, Laura.
Right. I mean, other, other YouTubers are making money. Every time they put out a video, they make money. What he needs to understand is just because he's gung ho about rule 26. We are, we are involved in the whole story, the whole fraud from beginning to end. And yes, money is being made by covering that, but that's journalism.
That's the reward for doing the research and doing the digging. I got people that want to pay me to do their cases. I got to focus on them. I'm doing this purely as like a, you know, I don't want to say customer service thing, but like public relations, I want people to know the truth about your case. I want to know the truth about your case.
I think I do. Yeah, we know the truth about the case, which is why we've been covering it so, uh, you know, so strongly is because the truth is she lied to everyone's face. She created fake medical documents. She stole ultrasounds. This all is provable. She created a black journalist, Chase J. Jones. We found it was attached to her cell phone number.
How the hell are we still having this conversation? So he sounds like he's done with her, but I also cannot spend the rest of my life. I'm 52 years old, Laura. I only got like, you know, this much time left. Anyway, I got, I got to focus on life. No, well, yeah, I, I am fascinated by your case. I'm fascinated by.
The other sides, I mean, the psychology of what has happened here is like, you could write books about it. I don't have time. I just don't have time to deal with this. I'm like an airline pilot. I flew from Phoenix to Denver. Passengers get off my effing plane and I now, now I have to fly to New York. He's like an airline pilot who is fighting with people online for free.
Yeah, I get it. You shouldn't be doing that. You know, you just attached yourself to a client who now expects you to be her PR person because no one else will be because we're all adults and big boys and big girls. And we know what the truth looks like. We came to that decision, uh, based on our resources that we had.
And we learned that she lied about. Uh, pretty much as everything we could unearth, which is, I don't know what the truth is anymore. You know what I mean? All right. Well, there's your update. We'll have more on that tomorrow. Uh, you guys have a fantastic blessed evening. We'll see you in the morning. As always, I'm Dave Neal.
