Welcome to the rush hour, your daily dose of pop culture for your rush hour ride. Buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host standup comedian, Dave Neal. Good morning, everybody. Happy Thursday to you on this September 26th, 2024. Let's get into all of your news. On today's morning rush, New York city mayor, Eric Adams was indicted by a federal grand jury.

I'll explain what that means. Plus a breakdown on how much money these celebrities make on dancing with the stars could be a good payday for bachelor Joey or bachelorette, uh, Jen Tran. Uh, they could be making upwards of 300, 000 plus Alfonso Ribeiro discusses Anna Delvey's unceremoniously short lived stint on the show.

Plus, Diddy's lawyers speak out about why he owned so much lube and, uh, who he is roomed with on prison, in prison, along with a lot more Diddy updates and also Bachelor in Paradise star Brandon Jones. Responds to the allegations that he abused his ex Serene. He's got an update. He gave directly to his Instagram followers.

I'll play part of that for you. We'll have that story in so much more coming up next on the rush. All right. This first story is pretty crazy. It broke kind of late last night. New York city mayor, Eric Adams indicted by federal grand jury. Now I'll be honest. When I first saw this story, I just assumed it had something to do with Diddy.

I don't know why. I just assumed that he's got tapes on somebody. Well, maybe not New York city mayor, Eric Adams facing federal. Criminal charges. He's now the first New York City mayor to ever be charged while in office and is planning to surrender Next week according to the New York Post. Isn't that nice?

You don't have to surrender right away You can just take a nice little break or something Hey, they say if you can't get criminally indicted in New York, you can't get it anywhere, right? Is that how the song goes? The charges which are currently sealed are in connection with a federal probe and the indictment is expected to be unsealed Thursday morning.

The historic grand jury indictment was first reported by New York Times, but with the case still sealed It's unclear exactly what the allegations are against him. So some people are saying that it's It's got to do with, uh, campaign finances, receiving money from maybe some foreign countries. New York post is reporting the case is connected to allegations.

The Turkish government illegally funneled money into his campaign. Interesting. Mayor Adams is being prosecuted by the same U S attorney's office. That's trying to nail Diddy, the Southern district of New York. Now, if you've watched any good television, you know that the Southern district of New York is prosecuted.

Probably what the most powerful district in the country when it comes to charging people. So how this works out with the mayor, I mean, who knows? Well, we have to take away his key to the city as well. And good news for Jenna and Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum. They finally have settled their divorce after six years.

Boy, you'd think they could step it up and get this thing accomplished. Uh, you like that joke there? Jenna and Channing can finally breathe a sigh of relief and move on with their lives. Their divorce has finally been settled. Six long years after the actress first filed. Details of the settlement aren't public, but TMZ obtained the binding agreement they've signed.

Jenna and Channing have hashed out their assets, decided who gets what, and even settled on a child support arrangement. Yeah, I think he was trying to, uh, she was claiming he was trying to hide money, uh, from her with regards to how much money he made on magic Mike. Uh, but, or, or, or something like that.

Who knows? Either way. I guess. It's a good so they can move on with their life. How exciting. Well, let's get into the cost breakdown of dancing with the stars. As you guys know, we love to follow the show. I always knew the celebrities got paid a six figure amount, but now we're finding out exactly what that tiered program is.

Let's have a listen. You didn't know dancing with the stars. Celebrities make three times as much as the pros. So apparently the celebrities make 125, 000 as a base salary just for signing up for the show. They rehearse for about 20 hours per week, so if they get eliminated that second week, they're walking away with an easy 125, 000.

But there is incentive for staying extra weeks. For example, if they make it to weeks three and four, then they get a bonus of 10, 000 per week. The weekly bonuses go up from there, and if they make the semifinals or the finals, the bonus goes up to 50, 000 a week. So if a celebrity stays all the way through the finale, they have potential to make over 300, 000 for an 11 week season.

Meanwhile, the pros are reported to only make 1, 600 per episode. Now, if this person is a season pro, it can be up to about 5, 200 per episode. But their final income is capped at 100, 000 regardless of how far they make it in the show. And we have to keep in mind that the pros are the ones doing the choreography.

They have group dances they have to memorize. They're putting in a lot more hours than just 20 hours a week like the celebrities are. Yeah, but you know what? No one remembers the pros names. Now, I hate to be all cynical here, but uh, that's why they have to entice celebrities to show up. The pros are good at this.

These celebrities, they have to make an ass out of themselves. No, I think I'm all for fair wages here, but you know, there is a base pay when it comes to the SAG after deal for live performing. And it sounds like that's what they pay the dancers, which, you know, stinks. They should be getting paid more than 1600 an episode, but kind of interesting when you think about how much money these.

celebrities can make. I mean, look, you got to get people to want to do the show and you can't, people can't just take off six weeks or eight weeks of their life. I mean, some can trust me and no offense to Jen Tran or Joey Grazia day. I'm sure their schedules are, you know, uh, wide open right now for this type of gig.

This is perfect for them. And speaking of having a wide open schedule, Anna Delvey, um, of course, uh, did not make it past week two. Uh, she, I guess has to go back to New York where she, I think waits a trial to find out if she's going to be deported or not. She's wearing an ankle bracelet, and she's had to deal with a considerable amount of hate, uh, for being on the show.

Alfonso Ribeiro, uh, spoke about Anna Delvey gaining nothing from the Dancing with the Stars. Here's what he had to say on the talk. She spent the entire time Getting destroyed on social media. Right. And so like, but by the way, just don't read it on days where I can tell there's a hate campaign against me because believe it or not, it happens.

Just try your best to not read it, delete the apps and just go on with your life and you won't even notice. Right. I guess it was, it was an honest answer. Like, what am I going to take away from this? Hurt, pain, right? Suffering, right? Like, I, I, I feel for her because I, I really recognize the difficulty of the situation.

That experience, as you know, is life changing. It changed my life, it healed me in ways I never expected it to, and she could have had that. Absolutely. And for her to get up there, and I know it's probably only been, like, you know, maybe three weeks, like a week with the partner before, maybe even longer.

Ezra is an incredible dancer, an incredible friend, and an incredible dance partner. Yes. Yes. And I can only imagine what he gave to her in the weeks that they worked together. A lot. I think it was a disgrace that she said she got nothing. Wow. Absolutely. I really do. I can't disagree, right? Because we do know the experience.

The experience is great. This is life changing me, my life changing for Alfonso. I mean, he was best known as playing Will Smith's cousin on fresh Prince of Bel Air, the Carlton. Right. We loved it. Right. I loved him. And then he kind of came back and had a real career resurgence was such a fan favorite on dancing with the stars to the point where he became a host of the show.

I mean, I think he also hosts another, doesn't he also host America's funniest home videos? I mean, good, good on him. Life has changed. Yes. Greatly from that experience on that show. I mean, my career is back because of that show. I owe everything to that show. And partner Whitney, like Alan, forever friend.

Went to dinner last night together after the show, right? Alan's a forever friend. No question. I just, you know, you, you, you have to take, you have to understand that obviously, you know, we went a long way. Right? And it's hard to be first. It's hard to be the, no matter Look at Alfonso Ribeiro bringing grace and kindness into his answer.

Uh, his stock is soaring in my book. Every person I've ever talked to who was eliminated first, it is the most difficult position. She still remains the villain, Alfonso. Absolutely. She still remains the villain. No, you, you, you are first, right. But remain grateful. All right. Well, easy to say, easy to say, you know, but either way, good on Alfonso for sticking up for Anna Delvey when no one else would, uh, you know, that, Hey, that, that takes some, uh, mirror balls.

If you ask me, all right, we'll be back with more content right after this. You know, speaking about Dancing with the Stars, it's so funny what the luck of the draw is, right? If you're a new dancer, you can only hope to be paired with somebody that has some chemistry that you can keep dancing with, and you just really have no idea who that might be.

Uh, in this case for Anna Delvey, her dance partner, Ezra, was new, I guess, you know, as far as being a featured dancer this year. Here's what he had to say after he was eliminated. What will you take away from this experience since your partner said nothing? What are you going to take away from this competition?

Nothing. I learned a lot dancing with Anna, but I also got to see, like, how she is on the inside. And, like, she's really misunderstood, and I, I really think that. I think that with the cameras on and everything, she kind of closed herself off. Even though our journey was cut short, I think if we kept on going, everyone would have seen that softer side of her.

Even though she shows like, kind of like, a red side of herself, she also has a lot of yellow and orange. Like, she has so much to her. I loved getting to know her. We were so emotional about reading those comments and how it affected Anna. She Was reading the comments. We couldn't find her. They finally found her in the bathroom.

She was crying I've never seen her like that and it broke my heart just seeing the day to day how much it affected her really affected me I felt like the more positive positivity sent her way the more she would have started opening up. I really hope She can really find joy within herself. You know, it kind of feels like she was bullied by America.

No, hold on. I understand. She literally came to America and defrauded people and lied to people. I get it. But you know, I mean, what, what's the difference between. Anna Delvey, like, this whole, like, uh, fake it till you make it. Now, again, I know, she went to jail. So my point is, like, didn't she pay her price and pay her time?

I don't know. I would have liked to see a scenario where she makes it four or five more episodes, and we do get to see a different side of her. Uh, not knowing what that side is, my curiosity was interested in that. All right, well, Do you guys ever watch the show Nashville? It was one of my favorite shows back in the day.

Hayden Panettiere was on it and she played, um, a country musician with a drinking problem. Well, as it turns out in real life, she's also an addict. And here she is with Billy Bush speaking on her addiction struggles and finally asking for help. So much. You're having a child. You're what, 25 years old or something, right?

So, you know. All of a sudden, you're a mom. Would that be the time, would you say, around the birth of your child, that it was like social drinking became sort of a necessary crutch? Well, living in Nashville, in general, it's what they do. They're drinkers. I'm living my life around, I'm scheduling it around, my cocktail, the first cocktail that I have.

And I can't sleep. I, I've had a drink and when you're thinking about it all day long, that's, I knew it was a problem. Took those four years off and I am proud to say and relieved to say that I feel great. Hey. better than I have in all, in a long time. Life is about getting up. That's the one thing. Life's about getting up.

Yep. Where everybody falls and we all have shame and things that are, you're supposed to, but getting up. What would you attribute getting up to? How did you get up? How'd I get up? I asked for help. I finally said, you know, this is getting out of control. I don't want my, I don't see my life like this. Slept a few times, finally stuck with it for, um, eight months.

And I got over the hump was what they call it. I found myself again. Good for her, we're happy to hear I mean, it was ugly, it was getting really ugly, and, you know, she was I think had her kids taken away, right? And, you know, video of her publicly fighting, and, you know, just talk about Christ for help, so, hey, it just goes to show, we're all on this green earth here for different reasons, and we all fight different addictions, like, for me, You know, alcohol is not one of those things.

I had a show last night at a weed and beer bar. And you know what I did? I had a Diet Coke, you know, I'm not even sober. I just don't really, I don't know, you know, you know what, you know, what's drastically made me stop wanting to drink is doing the podcast twice a day. I'm not kidding. If anyone out there has an addiction, try podcasting twice a day.

Cause I literally, what am I going to do? I've recorded these episodes. It's 1230 AM, right? I had a show. Tonight, you're listening to this in the morning, just to take you behind the scenes. This is in 7 a. m. I'm recording it before I go to bed. My wife's in the other room, breastfeeding the baby. We're going to go wake up four times tonight.

It's been rough. The last thing I need is a, is a cold beer, uh, that's going to give me more calories to burn off. I don't know. Just me. Is that relatable to anybody? I don't know. Maybe not. But again, uh, not to, not to not have empathy cause that's just not my addiction. You know what I mean? And everyone's got a different itch to scratch.

Well, speaking of freaky addictions, we have a couple of Diddy updates. Here is, uh, I guess, uh, ABC world news with David Muir explaining who Diddy is rooming with in prison. Tonight in New York City, Sean Diddy Combs is now sharing jail space with FTX founder Sam Bankman Freed. Combs, who has pleaded not guilty to federal sex trafficking charges of being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

He's been moved into the same unit with Freed, who was convicted of stealing billions from clients. That is cryptocurrency exchange. Honestly, I don't even mean to make a joke out of this. There is literally nothing more annoying than listening to some bro discuss Bitcoin. Imagine going to jail and you get roomed with a Bitcoin bro.

And you're like, bro, I don't want to hear about aetherium anymore. You're just getting a bed sheet to break out of prison. Why are you breaking out of prison? Cause I'm sick of hearing of Bitcoin. That's why. All right, Diddy. Well, uh, we have more updates from Diddy. This is actually from his lawyer, uh, trying to explain why he had so much baby oil.

Freak offs. But, you know, back when I was a kid in the late 70s, they were called threesomes. If these are genuinely threesomes, how do you explain a thousand bottles of baby oil? I don't know where the number a thousand came. The U. S. attorney said it. I can't imagine it's thousands. I mean, you know, and I'm not really sure what the baby oil has to do with anything.

They're essentially saying it's a lubricant for an orgy. I guess. I don't know what you need a thousand. One bottle of baby oil goes a long way. Yeah, that's the point. I don't know what you need to need a thousand for. I mean, he has a big house. He buys in bulk, you know, I think they have Costco's in every place where he has a home.

All right. So he's blaming it on the wholesale. Well, you know, Diddy was on the show storage wars and you believe it or not, he bid on a storage container and it turns out I had a thousand bottles. I mean, they got a point, you know, baby oil can go a long way, but, uh, I think that's, I think that's the idea is that there was sex trafficking and people were there against.

There will at least these are the charges being being laid. And, and I guess, uh, you know, what, what, what the hell do I know now? As far as his attorneys go, that was only one of his attorney and I guess on NewsNation there was another attorney, I guess, you know, I mean, look, he's diddy, he's got lots of attorneys.

Here's his other attorney explaining why they thought it was wrong to hold him in jail when he had the means to post bail. Why is that not a fair outcome? What he did here is on a magnitude higher. Unlike anybody else you could imagine. A week after those public searches were televised, he gave us his passport.

His children gave us his passport. He then paid off the mortgage entirely on his Miami home. 18 million dollars. It's instructive that he's going to have a bail package ready so that if he was arrested, he would have something ready so that he could get out the next day and show the judge he's taking this very seriously, which he is, which is why 12 days ago, Chris, when we thought there's an indictment that may be coming, he said, He flew to New York the very next day.

Yeah. But my point is this, even though he put all the money aside to pay bail, if they think he's a flight risk and he can fly private, they're worried he's going to go join some of his, you know, friends over in Bali or wherever the hell people go when they're trying to avoid, uh, you know, uh, you know, uh, going to jail.

And that's an extraordinary move for a defendant who's been under investigation that he's been aware of for at least six months. He has done everything, everything somebody under investigation can do. I can't think of anything else that he could have done. He's fighting. He's fighting, he's innocent, and he's going to be able to show it.

Well, he'll be fine. I mean, he's hanging out with a Bitcoin bro in jail. I think he'll be okay. Right? Well, speaking of people wondering if they're going to be investigated, Donald Trump's former attorney, uh, Cohen is saying if Trump wins, he's going to have no choice, but to leave the country. I don't know if that's because he thinks he'll be politically prosecuted.

He already did serve time as Trump's quote unquote fixer. Here's what he had to say. What do you think happens to you if he wins? Well, I'm out of here. I mean, I'm already working on, um, a foreign passport with a completely different name. Um, I don't know how it's going to work as far as dealing with my wife and my children.

I certainly don't want them moving to where I'm looking to go. But I, I, I, and I don't think, you, yourself. Uh, the president of MSNBC, General Milley, um, you know, uh, Liz Cheney. How many people has he turned around and said that? This is that these are people that I intend to go after. Now, look, I understand he might want to go after Michael Cohen because that was his lawyer and whatever, but I don't think he's going to be going after media companies and things like that.

I mean, yeah, he did the whole locker up thing with Hillary Clinton, but nothing ever came of that. So I'm not saying this is overly panic. I mean, the guy already served jail time, so I'm not saying he's overly panicked. He's He probably is paranoid to hell, uh, because there are a lot of things that could happen to his family.

If I have the ability to, and the worst is the Supreme Court's recent decision that gave him immunity, presidential immunity. Now he thinks it's, not only is it, I can do whatever I want. But I can't even be prosecuted to get out of jail free card solely for the president. Well, I think they said you can do whatever you want as long as it's presidential duties.

I understand the gray area Well, well, there's your update from michael cohen because you know people go well if so and so doesn't get elected I'm moving to canada, but he's like no i've got a passport. I've got a new name So, you know if anyone if anyone can say they're they're leaving the country if he's elected It's him and who knows maybe milania, you know what I mean?

All right Well, I got a couple more stories to get to You We will cover Brandon Jones, what he had to say and a college quarterback calling it quits. We'll have that for you next. Well, there's always been this argument with college athletes that the person working at the concession stand of the football game is making more money than the person actually on the field.

And they've actually changed the laws to make it so that college athletes can make some money with their likeness. Well, this story's interesting. After an undefeated start, University of Nevada Las Vegas quarterback announces Sudden decision to quit team due to dispute over off field commitments. He says he was promised 100, 000 and now I guess the team is saying, we never put that in writing.

And he's like, all right, fine. I'm walking. He said, I have decided to utilize my red shirt year and will not be playing in any additional games this season. season. Uh, so I guess he'll be, he could be a fifth. I guess he could play again next year. Like this year just doesn't count. He said, I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled.

Despite discussions, it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future. I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program. I have no problem with him doing this. I mean, if you're not going to go pro and a lot of college athletes never get to play pro, they're just not good enough, you know?

Uh, then, you know, try to get the, whatever money you can, you know, the college coaches in most of these, uh, states are the highest paid, you know, government employee in that state. They make, they make an absolute fortune off the backs of these young men. Per the NCAA, a player can red shirt a season if they have played four or fewer games to give them an extra year of eligibility.

So I guess he could come back next year. Let's see if anyone's going to pay him. Um, he said, I, um, uh, since twos, since 2021. College athletes have been allowed to profit from their name, image, and likeness and receive money from endorsements, sponsorships, social media, and other forms of income. Yeah. You remember a few years back, there was a college kicker who was also a YouTuber.

And they essentially said, you have to stop doing YouTube videos. And you know what he did? He walked, he said, you know what? Kick rocks. So, you know, you, you hope to see that, you know, college, college sports can be big business. And if there's money to be made there, I say, you know, spread that wealth, right?

Those are my thoughts. Okay. Well, I've got the updates on Brandon Jones. He of course, has been, uh, in the Bachelor Nation news as far as, uh, he mentions that his ex serene claims to have blackmailed him and said, I'm gonna ruin your life by sharing all of the crazy videos. That she has on him. Well, now he's saying, look, those videos do exist.

It'd be illegal if she shared them. And he's basically saying, yeah, I was, I was a bad guy, but I was not physically abusive, which, you know, might sound like the bare minimum. Uh, but, but, you know, he was accused of being abusive by Serene's brother. So I think at the very least for him to clear the air, that's that, you know, not, not a bad idea for him to do.

Here's a clip of what he had to say. I knew we were going to talk about it. Let's get into it. Alright, I'm going to be as open, honest, and as transparent as possible. I need you guys to hear my words. I'm a terrible communicator sometimes. I've talked about this so much that I just want to touch every base, okay?

I am human. I am not perfect. As long as we get there. That out of the way, I'm going to be open and vulnerable about my lowest moment in my life. Okay, here we go. Let's talk about these videos. These videos were secret recordings of me. The fact that I have to talk about secretly recorded videos of me is crazy, but they're secretly recorders of me of that.

My significant other took, let me tell you how it started. It started as in fight, they would bring up a past fight. I'd be like, this is not how it went down. They would, would argue about how it went down. So they started secretly recording. In a fight so that if I ever got brought up again, they could go back, play, and they could say either I told you so, or not at all, you know, if that's not how it went down, it just wouldn't be brought up.

These videos were for me, I guess. And then they were for the therapist who managed to only see half of one in our entire span. And then they were for, again, their words, not mine. They were held over my head. So if I ever talked, um, they could ruin my life with them. So pretty wild stuff. He says, if I ever talked, they would be used to ruin his life.

Well, so he's kind of taking control of his life now and saying, yeah, it was a terrible time. It was terrible. I wasn't great, but he says I wasn't abusive physically at the very least. You know how to define emotionally abusive can be tough when we haven't even seen the tapes. Right. Uh, but, uh, again, Very interesting that this is all coming out now.

No word from Serene as we know it. Uh, maybe it could be him just de burdening or maybe it's him preparing for a greater release that was planned. Either way, I'm going to cover everything that he said. He keeps on going on. It's a pretty long, I'm going to cover it all on today's YouTube. So make sure to go check that out.
