Welcome to the Rush Hour. Your daily dose of pop culture for your Rush Hour ride. Buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host, stand up comedian Dave Neal. Good morning everybody and happy hump day to you on this October 7th. Second, 2024, we've got all of your entertainment and pop culture news here, uh, in one place.
And I'm recording this from my mobile studio setup in Manhattan. If I sound a little sullen, no, the mood is great here. We're just using our whisper voices as the baby is sleeping in the same hotel room. That's right, folks. We do not take a day off. No paternity leave here. And on the morning rush, we've got Kristen Cavallari discussing why she broke up with her younger boyfriend.
Plus a couple brief thoughts on last night's vice presidential debate. The cause of Pete Rose's death has been announced, plus co star of American Pickers has passed, and also Bachelorette Jen discusses intimacy on Dancing with the Stars while chatting on the Trading Secrets podcast. Plus more tea emerges with Olivia Nuzzi.
The reporter who may have, uh, ruined her relationship for JRFK Jr. Not JFK, RFK Jr. She gets a no contact order on her ex who may have leaked the info to the press. It's getting messy folks. Plus Taylor Swift proves once again to be a boost for the economy as new Orleans hotels swiftly sell out. I got these stories and more coming up right after a quick word from our sponsor.
Well, folks, as I mentioned, I'm recording this from my very small hotel in one of the greatest and most congested cities in the world, New York City. I want to thank everyone so much for coming out to the show last night. I made some new friends, some coming from as far away as New Delhi, India. India.
That's right. Uh, we also had a Olga shout out to you for dragging a friend out to the show. It was a fantastic sold out audience at the New York comedy club. Appreciate everyone who did come. If you are in New York city and want to catch me one more night, Thursday night at West side comedy club on the Upper West side, I'll be there.
Plus October 11th, you can find me in Portsmouth, Rhode Island at the Rogue Island comedy festival. So lots of good chances to come out and hang. All right, let's dive into the news. Uh, and again, pardon me. I've got pizza on my breath here in the great city of New York. Olivia Nuzzi gets no contact order against ex Ryan Lizza accuses him of exposing her tryst with RFK Jr.
What the hell's up with these Italian names? Olivia Nuzzi, Ryan Lizza. Was she going to use both of her names and become a Nuzzi Lizza? What is going on? going on. Either way here, uh, just the absolute most bizarre scandal. Uh, Olivia Nuzzi has been granted a no contact order against her ex. According to an August filing obtained by CNN Tuesday, Nuzzi accused Lizza, a prominent political journalist with Politico, of killing threatening to release her personal information and even hacking into one of her electronic devices to blackmail her.
Specifically, Nuzzy claimed Lizza explicitly threatened to make public personal information about her to destroy her life, career, and reputation, a threat he has since carried out. Now look, I'm not, uh, defending the guy here, but she's the one who cheated, at least virtually, on her fiancé with Lizza. RFK Jr.
I mean, there was an alleged, uh, Facebook, uh, or excuse me, FaceTime, uh, sort of, uh, uh, intercourse happening. However that works. I don't know what in the Zuckerberg is that you don't need to know either way. Um, I think it's good that she's got a no contact order against him, but let's not forget, she kind of blew up her, uh, relationship for who.
Rfk jr. All right, fine. All right in other news hotels are selling out in downtown New Orleans ahead of Taylor Swift's heiress tour. They're calling it Taylor tourism or Taylor takeover Whatever it may be. We can't wait to have her here in New Orleans says Kelly Schultz the VP of communication for New Orleans and company Swifties are counting the days until her heiress tour stops in New Orleans and tourism leaders are getting ready to count those dollars Look, it's a proven fact If you want to boost the GDP of your city or state Try to get Taylor Swift to perform there.
Talk about having some pull. Now, look, I know she made an endorsement and people said, Oh, we're never going to go see her perform. Well, how do you think that worked out? Ask New Orleans about that. And from pop stars to stars of bachelor nation, we have reported rumors that Blake Moines, good friend of ours here at the program.
We love Blake Moines from the bachelorette seasons 16 and 17 bachelor in paradise season nine, maybe on an upcoming season. match season three on Netflix. Now you might be wondering, well, perfect match. That's a show for Netflix dating contestants. Well, it looks like they're opening their Rolodex to the bachelor community because Rachel Rekia is also rumored to be on that show.
Uh, does this mean I'll go watch it? I don't know yet. I really don't know. I mean, don't we have enough out there to watch? Well, if you like good movies and not reality TV, you probably enjoy a Daniel Day Lewis film. Well, he's retired seven years ago, but now Daniel Day Lewis, 67 years young, makes an unexpected return to acting.
seven years after retiring. The Oscar winner was photographed Sunday, looking barely recognizable. By the way, is he ever recognizable? Every movie he does, he's just a different person. For the scene, he was recognized filming for a new movie called Avalyn. Day Lewis was dressed in an olive green bomber jacket, black pants, brown boots, and black gloves.
Look. If we all could retire for seven years, we would love to go back to our job. I would love to go back to mowing lawns if I had seven years off. I mean, good for him for taking a little bit of a break, but you know, it's a point of privilege when you can retire for seven years and then just come back.
You know, you don't, you know, he's not in a desperate state, unlike singer James Blunt. Now we love James Blunt. You're beautiful, right? Good song. Is that what it's called? You're beautiful. It's true. He promises to change his name to Anything the public wants if his debut album returns to number one. Well, I guess we know what we need to happen.
We need James Blunt to become James Blippity Blunt Blunt, or maybe something marijuana related. James pass the blunt a blunt if he gets number one. So we'll all be streaming him on Spotify. The label are going to launch a campaign to get it back to number 120 years. How do you do this? How do you get it back to number one?
It's 20 years old. So what they've made me sign up to do is that. If it reaches number one, I have signed up, um, to, uh, changing my name to whatever the public, uh, may change my name. Oh no. And this is not just an act of desperation, uh, it's a genuine thing. I swear on my life and the life of my one fan. His name is Brian from Glasgow that I will, uh, Well, what should I do to garner the love and trust of my audience?
I don't want to change my name, but should I maybe get a tattoo? If you guys get me to a certain audience size, I mean, we can certainly come up with something right, folks. Well, did you watch last night's debate? Uh, you know, whenever there's a big, highly publicized debate or, you know, Super Bowl or whatever's going on, you'll see big, it's a big, uh, sort of a economy for trailers and other promotions.
Well, the apprentice trailer, which is a Donald Trump. Biopic has been rejected by CBS and ABC on debate nights because it's too controversial. The Apprentice, one of the most contentious and sought after films of the year depicting the life of a young Donald Trump, is too spicy for some major TV networks, at least during presidential and VP debates.
Briarcliff Entertainment, the film's distributor, tells TMZ a 15 second ad for the film was rejected from airing during, I mean, I mean, you can understand, right? They're, they're, they're The eight, these news networks are supposed to try to be as neutral as possible. And of course, uh, airing in a, you know, a 15 second clip of a movie about one of the contestants you're trying to be impartial about, isn't gonna fly.
Um, We'll have more on the debate in a little bit, but we announced yesterday Pete Rose passed away. 83 years young, died from heart disease. Somewhere Rob Schneider is blaming the vaccine. Of course he's 83, so I mean, I think that's past the age you're supposed to live anyway. Now I wish everyone lived to 83, but I think it's in the Mid seventies is, and didn't the age go down for the first time where Americans are so unhealthy, we're actually living younger, dying at a younger age.
Anyhow, MLB legend Pete Rose died from heart disease. According to the Clark County office of the corner medical examiner in Nevada. Maybe he died because he lived in Nevada. Do we ever think about that? It's kind of bleak out there. I don't know. And by the way, it's like, you're, you know, you're trying to get into the hall of fame You're banned for gambling.
Don't live in Nevada. Go live in New Orleans. Well, this is a sad story. We have an update on Diddy, allegedly sexually abused a nine year old boy. Accusers attorney claims they have something like 120 different, uh, people that are being represented by a law firm in Texas, and now we have an update. And I'll get to that story with you guys right after a quick word from our sponsor.
Now, I can't possibly tell you which of these, uh, lawsuits has merit. Of course, when someone like P. Diddy worth, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars, there's going to be accusations that don't line up, but there's going to be a lot of people coming out of the woodworks that have a real and genuine story to share.
Well, Diddy is about to be hit with lawsuits for assault accusers is telling some of their stories. Here's a quick clip for you. A few. If you just kind of give you a sense. of the kind of cases and the kind of instances that people are calling and reporting that we are trying to corroborate that. And these are the ones that we've already corroborated, vetted and collected evidence on.
But this individual who was nine years old at the time, uh, was taken to a audition in New York City with bad boy records. Uh, other boys were there to audition as well. All of them were trying to land a record deal. All of them were minors. Uh, this individual was sexually abused, allegedly by Sean Combs and several other people at the studio, uh, in the promise to both his parents and, uh, to him himself of getting a record deal.
Um, another instance, another minor, uh, told allegedly by Sean Combs. That he would make him a star. And look, that's all I'm going to share that I had to cut away from it. The stories are too heartbreaking. All I can say is if there's evidence to any of these wrongdoings, I really hope the families get a good financial windfall.
And I hope that Diddy gets the A brunt of the Justice Department and the brunt of, uh, what he has coming his way. Uh, again, if that all lines up and this is true, well, another sad news, American Pickers star, Frank Fritz dead at 60 complications from stroke. Uh, you guys might remember American Pickers.
That's just one of those TV shows you can turn on, right? You got the tall guy and then the short guy, and they just go into people's garages and kind of create a yard sale out of nothing. Well, The short guy was Frank and he passed, a rep for Frank Fritz tells TMZ he died from the effects of a stroke he had several years ago.
He had Crohn's disease for decades, which may have played a role. Frank was in a Quad Cities hospice facility, uh, and was surrounded by friends, including Mike Wolfe. When he passed. So, uh, rest in peace there to American Pickers star, Frank Fritz. Uh, all right. Well, this is probably our most salacious story of the day.
I should say Kristen Cavallari choked up discussing split with Mark Estes. She said age was a factor. So we discussed the 37 year old who has been, I guess, dating for seven months, the 24 year old, and they seemed pretty hot and heavy, but maybe she just came to the realization that he's a young guy and it's like, what are you going to do when she's And I know if you reverse the genders and if you said, well, if a guy was 30, you know, uh, that would still be like, you know, be 24, you have six years left in your twenties, go, go live your life.
And maybe she came to the realization that she couldn't give him the youthful experience he needed. Here's what she had to say. on her podcast. And, um, it's kind of a hard conversation for me. But, um, Mark and I broke up and I'm just gonna come out and say it. And, um, it's hard because, um, I broke up with Mark because I just know long term it's not right.
And it's not because Of love lost, or something bad happened, no one cheated, no one was mean, like, no one did anything. And those breakups are always the hardest, I think, because it's almost easier if the guy, you know, does something that makes you hate him. And then it's like, fuck that guy, I want him out of my life forever.
Like Mark didn't do anything. Mark has been nothing but so sweet and so supportive. And he's always been there. I mean, he's really been, he's been the best boyfriend I've ever had. I just know. Long term, he needs to experience life, you know, he's young. I mean, he is, and I started to feel the age a little bit just with life experience.
And you know, I, I look at, I look back when I was 24 and how much life has happened for me in between then. And I mean, those are crucial years. Those are formative years. This is when you find yourself. And. He needs to be able to do that, you know, um and and you know I know a lot of people will be like well, no shit.
And yeah, no shit. I get it I'm I've always been well aware that he is 24 and he does need to experience life I've always been aware of that. It wasn't like I was like ignoring the fact that he was younger and Like really just got out of college. Like I, I know I'm, I'm very aware of the situation. Um, but you know, this isn't a bad thing.
I, I really look at our relationship as such a beautiful relationship. Probably the best relationship of my life. Quite honestly, it was very healthy and very mature. Boy, don't you love ladies, right? She goes, it was the best relationship of my life. He was the best boyfriend. I broke up with him. No, all joking aside.
I understand. Yeah. It's like, it's not always about having the right person. It's about being in the right time of your life as well. And he's got a lot of life to live. And speaking of living a lot of life, happy birthday, Mr. President, Jimmy Carter turns 100. A milestone birthday and it is one worth extra celebration.
The former president's hundred birthday makes history as he becomes the longest living president. The longtime politician turned 100 on Tuesday after spending the last 19 months in hospice care. He's the only US president to live to 100. That's first of all, 19 months in hospice care. That's absolutely wild.
So, uh, very happy, uh, that he has, uh, I guess stretched his life out. I don't know. I don't know. What am I supposed to, I don't know what to say about that, but either way, uh, he's maybe a little too old for Kristin Cava, but, you know, finally got between the ages of 24 and a hundred, I would say. Well, our good pal Morgan P talks, of course, from, uh, she's got a great podcast.
She, uh, you know, I always love when my fellow content creators have some discussion. Discussion. And she says they should give Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette, their own paradise spinoff. Let's have a listen to Morgan P. Talks. You're telling me there's a chance that we're getting a golden bachelor in paradise.
Yes. Yes, I am. Post Jesse Palmer is being very cryptic about what we can expect for season 10 of bachelor in paradise. He told us weekly. I do know some of the ideas that are being pitched around. I know there's a lot of different stuff sort of in the bachelor verse that they're putting into this. Now, he does say it sounds like a lot of the old and it sounds like there are some new ideas being floated in as well.
But here's where it gets a little bit more vague. In this interview, he talks about cast members from the Golden Seasons making appearances on the beach. He said, I absolutely hope so. And I believe in manifestation. I think it would be so great. I mean, the cast from Gary season and the cast from Jones season.
It's incredible. He says, I think you need to have an open kitchen and let Jack and Susan go in there. It would be amazing. And he also said, I hope maybe there's going to be some sort of golden iteration as well. Look, I think this is a great idea. And thank you, Morgan P talks for the great thoughts. You can go check that clip out on her Instagram.
Morgan P talks. Yeah, look, I mean, I think what the golden bachelor. series, Bachelor Bachelorette has taught us is that there's a lot more depth to relationship than the superficiality that comes from the show. I mean, let's be quite honest. What does a 24 year old have to complain about, about the dating world they're in on The Bachelorette?
Nothing. And when you have folks like Susan or Jack or any of these, uh, you know, real great, charismatic folks from their fifties, sixties and seventies, you get a little levity. You get some, um, You know, some, some context to what life is all about for the gratitude that they have to have sort of this, like, sort of late stage fame coming their way and notoriety, I think it would be absolutely fantastic, fantastic, not necessarily to bring in golden bachelorette contestants just to host a date.
But really let them live and coexist with the younger cast. No, not to mingle and date, but to, you know, be there and, and partake in activities or, you know, some, some, some version of bachelor and paradise that involves, you know, like summer games, some, some sort of, uh, you know, I don't know, competition series where maybe an older cast member gets paired with a younger cast member and they can help each other out because they wouldn't be competing for the same, uh, the same people.
I don't know. These are just thoughts I'm having. I don't know. I'd love to know what you guys think about all that. Well, over here at the rush hour podcast, we consider ourselves very eclectic with the content we cover. Here is Chris Stableton on the Howard Stern show, discussing what went into preparing to sing the national anthem.
Did the Superbowl. This performance of the National Anthem was so mind blowing. I've read that you said this is the most preparation you ever did for a TV appearance. What does that mean? What is your preparation for something like the Star Spangled Banner? There's a lot of people who, who, who screwed up the National Anthem.
I mean, that's the one thing you don't want to be immortalized for is that, to me. Like, playing the National Anthem period is a dangerous thing. It's like throwing out a first pitch at a baseball game. You can, you can really mess that up if, if you don't. You know, go throw a few pitches before you do it.
But does someone call you up from the NFL and say, listen, Chris, we want you to do this. And do you have to think about it or you accept it immediately? You know, the joke for me for the longest time was people would ask me to do play the national anthem and be like, no, I'll just wait on the Superbowl.
And that was, that was kind of my joke, you know, like, cause I didn't think that that would be something somebody would ask me to do. And oddly enough, it wasn't the first time they had asked me to do it. Um, There was a year, and I forget which year it was, they had asked me to do it and it turned out somebody else in the NFL organization had asked somebody else to do it first.
And I said, yeah, I'll do that. And then they came back and they're like, well, sorry, we want to change you to, you know, not this year. I'm just like, Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. So what are you doing to me when the opportunity came to do it for real? Um, yeah, I said yes, immediately. And he absolutely crushed it. Well, you're crushing it on this morning commute.
We're almost at work. Let's take a quick break. We'll be back to wrap it up with some talk about last night's debate. All right, before I get into the debate, I did promise I would have a clip of Jason Tartick interviewing Bachelorette Jen, uh, from Dancing with the Stars, but I accidentally made a mistake.
It's not Bachelorette Jen, it is Jason Tartick in, uh, interviewing Jenna, who is Joey Grazaday's professional dancer. Uh, apologies for that confusion. Here's what she had to say about intimacy and chemistry while dancing. Just from your vantage point, do you think other pros struggle with that? I think we all know what our job is, and I think we've all had to learn, you know, because it can become hard and messy.
And you just want you and your partner to have the best three months possible and for it to be a very positive experience. And you don't want any extra things coming into the studio that are already stressful and really intense. So I think everyone does a pretty good job about being professional. It's just like you said, it's like different, uh, being desensitized.
Like even like bachelor nation, like I saw some of the comments and they're like, watch your hand, Jenna, I know, I know, and it's wild how different stars who have different followings have different reactions to that area of the business, but it's. Yeah, I think what it comes down to is audiences are very, uh, they have a lot of ownership over their celebrities because they're the fans.
So the dancers get in the middle of them and they go, Oh no, you're gotta, you gotta treat them this way or you're not doing this right. And in the end, I guess the audience is probably want the best for them, but it's also, yeah, like Jason said, you get to see how more toxic some audiences are than others.
All right. Well, as promised, I got a couple questions. It was absolutely off the rails.
J. D. Vance, we're going at it with regards to whether they can at least admit that the last election was lost by Trump. He is still saying he didn't lose the election. I would just ask that. Did he lose the 2020 election? Tim, I'm focused on the future. Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 election?
COVID situation. That is a damning, that is a damning non answer. It's a damning non answer for you to not talk about censorship. And I think the reason why this specific line resonates with a lot of people is because right now you're not trying to win over MAGA, you're trying to win over the undecided voters.
Well, there was a town hall of undecided voters and one of them said that that specific moment is why they were kind of going with Kamala over Trump. All seven of you came in undecided. One of you said they've made up their mind. Ryan, who do you, who are you going to vote for and what kind of solidified that opinion?
Well, I'm going to be voting for Kamala Harris. You know, uh, one of the stark sort of aspects of that debate that really stuck with me was when they were talking about January 6th and how Mike Pence certified the election and they were wondering if J. D. Vance would certify the election should Trump lose.
And, you know, J. D. Vance didn't really give us a definitive answer and I, I'm disappointed in that fact. I think what it comes down to is a lot of people just want to make sure that there are the, the, uh, sort of, uh, systems in place that there's checks and balances to prevent what could have happened last election.
And, you know, some people, this is just, uh, this is just like the litmus test, you know, it's like, well, do you think that the last election was stolen? Yes or no. If you think it was, then, you know, in, in their, their response to that was. It was, well, Hillary said that Russia interfered with the election, but of course, Hillary showed up to the inauguration of Trump and was there to be a part of the peaceful transition of power.
And I think what we learned was that that is so important symbolically that people on both sides see that transition of power. It was an interesting debate, depending on what side of the news you want to read. People say JD Vance. Crushed him and people say no Tim Walz crushed him. And I think what it comes down to is Uh, these vp debates don't really sway the opinion much But that might have been a telling moment.
I'd love to know your thoughts All right. Well, i'll be on patreon today to discuss some of the news going on in bachelor nation Plus we'll have a youtube video up for you. And then this afternoon i'll be back. So as always we'll see you then I'm, dave neal.
