Welcome to the Rush Hour, your daily dose of pop culture for your Rush Hour ride. Buckle up and enjoy the drive with your host, stand up comedian, Dave Neal. Good morning, everybody out there. Dave here on this Friday, October 11th, 2024. I've got all of your entertainment and pop culture news in one place.

Uh, some heavy content to get to some salacious entertainment news lawsuits happening at golden bachelor. We really have it all in on this morning's rush. I've got. updates on the wreckage from Hurricane Milton, including Lieutenant Dan, uh, the Tampa legend who decided to ride out the hurricane in his 20 foot vessel.

I'll also cover the lawsuit that alleged Kanye hired a fixer to follow the Kardashians. Plus we've got LA attorneys saying they've got new evidence in a Marilyn Manson lawsuit and a trial date has been set for. So he better get comfy in his cell. Cause he's got about seven months to prepare. Also the Trump call a call out of call.

Her daddy host has divided America. I'll share what people are saying on both sides of the aisle. I got all those stories and more coming up next on the rush. Well, as far as Hurricane Milton is concerned, there will be stories that come out of heroicism and there will be stories of tragedy and some that involve both.

One story that we've been following is the man that they call Lieutenant Dan. He of course, as I've covered in the last several episodes, uh, tried to ride out the storm in his 20 foot vessel and seemingly has made it out alive. Now there's been some controversy surrounding, uh, This man, they call Lieutenant Dan.

He's a 54 year old man named Joseph Malinowski. Uh, there has been a few reports about him that there were some wild crimes he committed. I'm being told after looking into it, that those, uh, reports were false. He has a prison record. He was essentially homeless before living on this boat after, uh, getting cancer.

And then getting addicted to Oxycontin. And after that, he was living on the streets with his addiction. This is a guy who has battled a lot in his life. And the reason why he didn't want to leave his boat was because he said it's all he had left. Well, here's the update on his heroic. Uh, I guess, uh, trials and tribulations of the last few days.

The wind picked up for a little bit and bounced me around. At one point last night, I was getting bashed up against this wall. So I went out and I cut my anchor line to get away from it. So I got a 250 anchor sitting down there that I gotta go in and get. Dan, you, you weren't afraid at all last night? No.

I'm not scared of anything. And what I've been through with this weather is nothing. And I, and I put my faith in God. I, God told me to come here. God told me five years ago, I was in Colorado. He put on my heart, Tampa, Florida, and get a boat. I woke up one morning with doubt on my heart. And that's all I could think about.

And I left Colorado. I went to North Carolina, left North Carolina, came to Florida. I've been in Florida for five years, stuck on the East coast, never came over. In March, I came over, I found this boat for 1200 bucks. I bought it. I come to Tampa and guess what? Guess what? Can't pledge. Not today. So he's sharing his story.

Of course, it got super viral. There's actually a streamer who offered him 100, 000. And as far as I know right now, that offer still stands for this guy to continue streaming and sharing his journey. Look, I mean, yeah, he he's, he's got a kind of a crazy life he's lived. And that's, that's the world we live in, folks.

And he's got, you know, over 30, I mean, people. wanted him to survive this thing. And we'll see, we'll see what he makes of it. To be quite honest. Now, there were reports here. CNN's Isabel Rosales joined Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Cronister on an airboat, touring flooded out neighborhoods in Tampa. And you can hear a moment where the Sheriff, uh, sort of starts to break down and cry.

Just realizing that a lot of these neighborhoods that were affected. Uh, you know, there were neighborhoods that were already, you know, these, these weren't all affluent neighborhoods. These were a lot of people that like lost everything that they had from torrential rainfall. This is not storm search.

This is not an evacuation area. This is something completely unexpected for this area. I've never seen flooding like this. We had people that evacuated here to make sure they were safe. They listened. They came here. This is a neighborhood that doesn't have a lot. They have very little and the very little they had.

They've lost everything. You're getting choked up right now.

Your heart shatters for these people. Uh, we did a bunch of rescues. We took them to a shelter. This water has nowhere to go. So it actually reminds me of Hurricane Katrina when the levees broke in New Orleans and the ninth ward was flooded. And of course it was a lot of the homes of the people of lower class or lower middle class.

I got to see that firsthand as we, uh, helped clean out some of the homes. Uh, and I have to tell you some of the people you meet, uh, that have that I've had to deal with such adversity. It's so, it's so hard to think about, but so many of those people that you meet that have lost everything somehow have the most gratitude.

You know, these are people that would ride a storm out on the roof. And these are people that lost their animals and their family members. And, and you hear about those heroic stories and it really. Is one of the only things that reminds us all that we all are, you just red blooded Americans and we're all, you know, when you're trying to save someone's life, you're not asking what political party they belong to.

Here's Fox News. There's a woman who was trying to dodge the storm and a man saved her life. Have a listen. I just started walking because my girlfriend lives about four blocks from here, from there, and I thought I could make it, and as I go about a block, the water comes up to here, and I'm falling down, and I'm yelling, and a gentleman comes out of his house, he pulls me in, and he says, get in here, he had no idea who I was.

And his name is Roy and I want to say Roy, thank you for saving my life. Cause I almost got, I almost died. There it is. So big shout out to Roy and every other hero that's out there. I mean, there's going to be a lot of stories that come up from not just this hurricane, but Helene and Susan. So, and you know, in all the devastation and the sort of rebuilding that comes out and we'll try to cover it as we see fit, uh, we have an update to a story we covered yesterday.

Uh, I actually, so yesterday was a travel day for me and I'll get into that in a minute, but because it was a travel day, I had to make some content ahead of time. While there's been so many restraining orders in the bachelor world, it's hard to cover them all. The last one was a guy named Gil. Well, now there's a new restraint.

He's on golden bachelorette and he had, you know, it's. It's a current, uh, temporary restraining order that will be adjudicated in court between him and his ex. Well now there's a guy named guy. Guy Ganser is actually doing really well on this season of, uh, golden bachelor, uh, it's called the bachelorette.

And I think I accidentally conflated them to in the last episode because guy and Gail restraining orders, they sounded like the same. I didn't even know there was a new, there was a new restraining order out there. So there, there was, it took place in 2020. 21 by guy and, uh, his, uh, then I guess wife, he was divorcing.

Well, they both dropped the restraining order. Uh, they came to terms, you know, that they were breaking up and it was messy, I'm sure. And they actually tried to get that order sealed. But of course the sun, uh, was able to expose it. The sun being the, uh, the, uh, you know, British tabloid and guy came out with a statement to just let people know about that restraining order that surfaced.

Here's what he had to say. I would like to respond to articles about a personal matter from 2021. This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse, and I was ultimately resolved when she voluntarily, uh, voluntarily dismissed her request for protective order.

Together, we crafted a resolution that was agreeable to both parties. My ex wife and I recently asked the court to seal, to seal her application for the protective order as we had hoped to maintain privacy for our family. But I know that with being in the public eye comes responsibility. My ex wife and I were married for 34 years, and in that time had four children who was raised together and deeply loved.

They are my greatest accomplishment. My divorce was extremely difficult for me and led me to a very low point in my life, and as a result, I acted in a way that does not represent who I am. The past few years have caused me to conduct a deep, personal evaluation and I will always continue to work to improve myself.

I am so appreciative of the Golden Bachelorette and Bachelor Nation, as well as my family who have been exceptionally supportive during the most difficult times of my life. I'm eternally grateful for them. Look folks, when it comes to People doing bad things and maybe this breakup was toxic. Maybe there was arguments and, and, and, and accusations and who knows what, right?

But when it comes down to it, you know, I do believe in a world where people can redeem themselves and overcome their darkest moments. And I can't pretend to know what it's like to go through a 34 year marriage that ends the way it does and when, and whatnot. Uh, so. I, but, but, uh, but I also don't blame the articles for coming out because like, you know, if it's a dating show and if you have, uh, problematic issues, they're going to get brought up on a dating show.

So, you know, he's a relatively powerful ER doctor, uh, who probably was able to have some money to try to get this thing sealed and wasn't able to do that. So it is what it is. Uh, sunlight's the greatest disinfectant and, uh, share your story and try to be a better version of yourself moving forward. What else can you say?

All right. I'll give you an update to my wild day. I'll have that story for you coming right after a quick word from our sponsor. You know, I almost struggled to even tell this story because it was a perfectly fine day for me. And you know, there's, you know, the, the, the, the, the cleanup of the hurricanes and this and that.

So again, everything I'm about to say is in total jest and life is good on my end and I'm completely grateful for my family and my health and all that jazz. So with that said, it was a wild day of flying because I had to fly from Nashville to see my family in Rhode Island. I've got a show tonight at the Rogue Island Comedy Festival, 6 p.

m. Uh, I don't know if tickets are still available, but you can check them, but there probably are a few. It's a big venue. Uh, but anyhow, go to my Instagram to get tickets to that. If you want to come out Portsmouth, Rhode Island, uh, but I had to fly. We had a flight to Boston from Nashville and the flight itself went fine, but now, you know, we're learning to fly with a baby and, you know, you got to take them to the little baby family, uh, the family bathroom in the airport and everyone's loving the babies looking cute.

But he always, he always poops at the wrong time. That's the kid. He always poops at the wrong time. That's what he's known for. Uh, you know, when, when we had the beauty pageant right before, boom. Ready to go. You know what I mean? He just, he just knows like, should I do it now? And we're like, no. And he is like, but I have to, uh, takes after his dad.

So he, uh, , we, we land, we land in Boston, and uh, we're on the tarmac and sure enough, he lets one rip. And, uh, for whatever reason, when you poop on an airplane there, there's something with a cabin pressure. It shoots the, it shoots the, uh, you know what right up the, right up the spine. So we quickly had a situation and then of, and then of course the, uh, the pilot says, you know, due to whatever.

We're going to be stuck on the tarmac for a while. Well, for almost an hour, we had to sit with our fidgety son in our seats who had, uh, you know, our, you know, had, uh, sort of ruined his outfit of choice as it were. Uh, but then we get to the car rental and it was, it was the busiest. And again, I know it's busy because there's 3000 flights diverted and it took an hour Hours to get into that car to drive two more hours to Rhode Island.

And I'm just, I'm just happy to be here with family and everything I say, it's, it's all just to say, we knew all day long as our, as our day was, uh, one filled of a lot of travel and, uh, you know, a lot of sort of, uh, you know, not getting, not getting much sleep that, Hey, life is good. Life is good. And these are the challenges and the bumps that we should appreciate as young parents, uh, with a newborn baby, with a, with a five month old is, I guess he's not newborn anymore, you know, but you know, I, and I just couldn't imagine, I just couldn't.

And again, this is, this is, I guess what wrecks you as a parent. This is what wrecks you as a parent is the amount of worry that comes into your life. We had an issue this week where the baby fell for the first time. Um, um, When he shouldn't have in a situation that was completely my fault, uh, and he was fine and we didn't take him to the hospital, but we monitored him and it left me, it just left me crying in a way that I didn't know possible because, you know, you know, go through a breakup or something happened, you know, there's so many times when you cry for yourself, but to cry for somebody else, to care about somebody else.

That's, that's a different feeling. You know, I care about my wife, but she, she's got agency and she's an adult and, and, and my poor baby to think that I put him in a situation to hurt and he, and he hurt from it. And again, he was okay, but it was just a scary situation. So when we have all these issues in our country, So often we don't have empathy for people that don't look like us and we have to really put, uh, and do our work to put ourself in a situation to think, wow, what if that was me?

What if that was my son in that flood water? What if that was my mom that was stuck on the streets and we needed someone like Roy to save their life? You have to really think about all of the that. I guess, I don't want to call them guardian angels, but good Samaritans that exist and when push comes to shove, they're all out there.

So we shared earlier a clip of the county sheriff, uh, uh, from Hillsborough County discussing, you know, how emotional it was to sort of deal with some of these situations. Well, they actually had a moment where they caught on camera a 14 year old boy. That was essentially floating, uh, in, in, in some, in some flooded neighborhood.

And he was trying to wave down the boat to help him. Here's what the Sheriff had to say. We actually want to talk to the Sheriff of Hillsborough County. Now Sheriff Chad Chronister joins us live. Sheriff, you put this video out on social media. Uh, I'm wondering what goes through your mind when you see footage like this?

And the footage was them literally scooping up a 14 year old boy who, who may have spent the night in the waters. I mean, who knows? Listen, I just happened to be on the airboat for that one, uh, that's over 200 rescues we've done and are still actively conducting. We just offloaded a family as, as, as I'm standing here by the flooded water.

He was waving us down, flagging us down. Most people were saying hello. He was frantically wailing his arms. We went over and it literally was like the scene of the Castaway movie, how he's hanging on for dear life. His mom evacuated him to a safer area last night. He was walking home. Didn't realize the water was going to get as flooded as deep as it did.

And he's not a good swimmer. And hence, hence the rescue. And he was visibly shaken. I mean, he hugged us. He was just so grateful and we took him to some dry land, but just one of many rescues we've been conducting. Heroes, folks. Heroes. Well, I mean, it's a heavy stuff, but like, you'd be heartless to not cover this, right?

You'd be absolutely heartless. I just can't. I mean, you want to bubble wrap your kid, right? That's all you want to do is just put your kid in bubble wrap and not let them go outside ever. But what can you do here? And, um, you know, for every. For every 10 stories of, you know, heroic behavior, there's those that, you know, people didn't get to, and we're going to, and we're going to have, you know, those are going to come out.

And it's just one of those things we need to just do a better job of giving people the financial freedom to be able to evacuate. On time. And, you know, we, we have all of those resources, but so many people just like they, they, they strap down because they don't think they've got any other options. And I know it's a mess out there and, and, and we'll try to support, uh, in any way we can, any relief efforts.

If there's anyone that is in our community that has any personal, uh, sort of, um, donations that, that are needed in any way whatsoever, please, my DMS are open, send, I know someone sent me some links already, we're trying to, we're trying to get. To people that we can tangibly help right now. There's a lot of donations going in a lot of different directions, but, uh, we're here for you guys.

All right. I got it. I got to take a twist to some more like poppy news here. Um, but, uh, Kanye West is a bizarre new lawsuit alleges he hired a fixer to follow Bianca and investigate the Kardashians he's being sued. By a man claiming to be his former director of intelligence, who has alleged the rapper ordered him to orchestrate investigations into both wife, Bianca and former in laws to Kardashians.

Per the lawsuit in December, 2022, Kanye had initially hired the staffer to be his campaign manager for his presidential run. but later reworked his role to be Yeezy's Director of Intelligence. The man claimed the position required him to be responsible for handling Kanye's NDAs and other investigations, which included closer looks at the Kardashians and Bianca.

He was tasked with hiring private investigators to tail Bianca, without her knowledge, whenever she traveled solo, including during visits with her family in Australia. Well, this is insane. So we'll have to see. Um, uh, he said, he says that in Kanye in, in may of 2024 began exhibiting erratic behavior as a result of his alleged nitrous oxide usage after implanting titanium grills on his teeth.

All right. Well, this is just sad. We'll have to see what comes of this lawsuit and uh, yeah, who knows? Well, well, Trump, uh, I guess, let it spill that his daughter Tiffany is pregnant. He said it, um, I guess he said it, um, here, let's listen to what he actually had to say. And a very special man, a great guy, Dr.

Massad Boulos, many of you know him. He's a very successful man.

He happens to be the father of Tiffany's husband, Michael, who's a very exceptional young guy. And she's an exceptional young woman. And so. And she's gonna have a baby, so that's nice. Thank you for being here. Thank you very much. Alright, so he just throws it out. I don't know. I mean, that's such a I know he's not a boomer, right?

He's older than a boomer. What is he, the Forgotten Generation? But that's such a thing where like, you know, you're like, Dad, you're not supposed to announce it yet. We haven't told, we haven't gotten the Instagram photo out yet. Oh, whatever, what can you do, you know? Well So Trump, and I covered this earlier, right?

Trump, uh, called Alex Cooper stupid, uh, because of her interview skills with Kamala Harris. Well, it's led people in different directions to criticize Alex Cooper and to defend her. Let's go to the criticism first and then we'll go to the defense. This is the Tim cast, Tim pool, roasting Alex Cooper over her interview.

Alex Cooper hosts a show where she discusses, like, general interest topic stuff for women, dating, sex, sexuality, she, as are her words, she interviews the vice president and current democratic candidate for the election coming up in less than a month and she never! Google searched this, and so she's got millions of listeners and millions of followers, and she may as well be drooling into the microphone.

Okay. I'm sorry. Okay. Voting should not be easy. Voting should not be hard, but it should not be easy. I think ballots should be blank. That's it. You can go vote. Bye. You don't need an ID, paper ballots, and they're blank. All right. So I think this is the, a ridiculous take. I mean, a lot of people actually thought that Alex Cooper did a really good job with her interview.

Now she's getting criticized for being like very propagandist because she didn't push back with any hard hitting questions. Look, Alex Cooper is kind of like the, uh, the girl from, uh, Schitt's Creek. She's very, um, uh, uh, war. She's, she's very warm in the way she interviews. She plays it like she's your best friend, but it gets the interviewee to open up in a way that they might not in a normal stiff interview.

So a lot of people are upset with Alex, but I think, I think she's. I don't call it genius, but I think what she does is really good. She's just not that type of interview. She's not the hard hitting interview. That's not what she's there to do. Um, so it's like, you can't, you can't fault someone for doing something that they just don't do.

Well, I'm going to share what Bethany Frankel has to say, which I think is pretty interesting since Bethany Frankel is also like a self made mega millionaire from all of her success. We'll have that for you next. Let's talk about Alex Cooper. So I met her at a birthday party this summer and then I was a guest on her Unwell tour.

First time I met her, um, it was a big crowd and she was engaging the crowd and I liked her. I just sort of know instantly if I like someone. Uh, we chatted and she understands her audience and she's connecting and it's not disingenuous. Like she really is grateful to be where she is. And then I went to the unwell tour.

Now, keep in mind, I've done Jay Leno. I've done Jimmy Kimmel. I've done Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, all of them. And I went to the dressing room, uh, and she knocked on the door and my social person was in there and she said, we're not ready. I didn't even know it was Alex. And I thought, Oh my God. But anyway, two seconds later, she opened up.

This girl came to play in a different way. Meaning she came to play. She wanted to creatively collaborate. We were like riffing and riffing. And, and bantering and just like bang, bang, bang. It was like being with a kindred spirit. Okay. And we shot some content and we chatted and then I met her husband and she met the people that I was with.

And it was very, very, to say that it was down to earth, it would be an understatement. And then I watched her show and I watched her engage her audience and the people that she surrounded herself with, like the sort of friends of the show. And. Whether it was Harry Jowsey or, um, the girl who was a guest, Megan Maroney, please.

If I get her name wrong, I'm so sorry. She's a beautiful young girl. Um, and again, her husband, and we did chat about the interview that she had coming up that was really big and her team, the people around her. And I just want to say that, as I said on stage to her, She's the real deal. So there it is. I mean, look, she's worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

She's, she's the real deal. Not by accident, not because she's the smartest person in the room or the sexiest person in the room or the most influential because she's the richest. No, she's, she is because of the energy she's put out there and people relate to that. And that's undeniable. There's no knocking.

I mean, you can knock it if you don't get it, but she has built an empire. So it's funny when people go, Oh, she was a bad interview. It's like, I, I, I guess she's not for everyone to understand what she is. Well, Diddy is behind bars and his trial is not happening for a few more months. Here's the update to that story.

Judge has set a May 5th trial date for Sean Diddy combs to face those charges of racketeering, conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation, a prostitution. Now Diddy was in court today. He entered the courtroom wearing a jail issued outfit, a khaki long sleeve shirt and pants. He was also shackled at the ankles.

His family members were in the courtroom. Room. His mother and most of his children, he had waved to them, blew a kiss to his mother, and one of his sons had raised and flexed his arm, his bicep as though to show a sign of strength. Now, this hearing was mostly about procedural issues, right? So either way, I mean, you know.

The fact that he's not, doesn't have parole. I mean, he has to sit in jail and wait for this thing. I mean, but it's like, look, we'll see how it all plays out. You know, they're afraid he's a flight risk cause he's a very influential guy. You can just get on a private jet and go wherever he wants. Well, Marilyn Manson, I guess.

is back in court. There's new evidence in an alleged sexual misconduct case. The LA district attorney says, uh, we'll have to see. They released a statement saying that the sex crimes division are reviewing new leads and additional evidence that have come to their attention from the LA Sheriff's department.

So I guess if that goes to trial, we'll have more information there. I know it's kind of heavy today. There was a lot of, uh, geez, a lot of like, you know, just toxic news out there, but I hope the stories of Roy And the stories of the sheriff and saving the boy and in, in Lieutenant Dan, I hope that can at least remind us all to be humans.

You know, when we're in, when we have that idea of going into the DMS and leaving a snarky comment or if we have, and by the way, that person who called me an idiot did apologize. We appreciate that. So all is right in that world, you know, from the other day, but I just want to remind everyone we are here explicitly to share the truth.

Love and to try to make light of some entertainment news and to try to do good thing. That's what all, that's all I want to do. I, I, you know, so with the heavy news, I have to offset it with some positivity. It's going to be a good one today, folks. Uh, you know, Fridays are meant to be, you know, you're meant to smile on Friday.

So find, find a reason to tell your loved ones. You love them. Call your mom, tell her your lover and try to make a stranger's day and maybe they'll do it in return. That's all we can do during trying times like this. this. I hope you guys have an excellent one. I'll be live on Patreon later this morning, um, from my Rhode Island set up.
